3/21/11 Week 1

Give the title, author, publisher, copyright date, genre (how do you know the genre -from the back of the book, title page, text?), a description of the cover of the book, and the main character(s) that you have met so far and on what page you first met them. Use complete sentences and ensure that you have proficient mechanics.

I am reading The Contender by Robert Lipsyte. The Contender was published by Harper Collins Publishers. The genre of this book is sports i know this because my teacher let me know. The cover of my book shows a man in the boxing gym sitting in the ring looking ready to box he is wearing black and white shorts and a white and red jacket. Main characters in the story ive met in the story so far are Alfred a kid, his mother, and his friend James, also some of his friends lik e Henry and Hollis and i met them all in the first 6 pages and that is all.

    Next Steps:
    Did you look at my example? You need to. You forgot the copyright date and the publisher.

    How else do you know this book is about sports? The cover give it away any?

    What else is on the cover? Words? What is in the background.

    Exactly what page did you meet each character on. Give some information on the characters ( who they are, what they are doing).

    What do you think about the book/cover? Why?
